're skype. i'll let you start off first here. let me play what paul ryan, completely opposite of what chris christie said this sunday. his assessment of the debates. let's play ryan, please. >> i don't think one event is going to make or break this campaign. look, president obama's a very -- he's a very gifted speaker. this is mitt's first time on this kind of a stage. >> it's no secret, steve, you are conservative republican. you are not a fan of mitt romney. is this a make or break moment for his campaign on wednesday? who's right? chris christie or congressman ryan? >> well, if my head is twice as big as everybody on the panel does that mean i'm twice as smart in that's the question. >> you have to take that up with them. >> i think that they're both right in a way. i don't think one singular event will testimony the outcome unless either barack obama or mitt romney says there's no soviet domination of eastern europe. i do think one singular event can be a catalyst for an eventual outcome and begin a chain of events that we look back and say that's when the eventual outcome that we saw,

. >> and then the "huffington post" released what they consider their own bombshell tape, showing paul ryan at what his campaign says was on open forum, this was just last year, 2011. ryan's remarks are now being compared to romney's 47% comment. >> the good news is survey after survey, poll after poll, still shows that we are a center-right 70/30 country. 70% of americans want the american dream. they believe the american idea. only 30% want the welfare state. >> and republicans are seizing on what vice president joe biden said at a campaign event in north carolina. that set off another war of words. >> how they can justify raiding taxes on the middle class that has been buried the last four years. >> vice president biden just today said that the middle class over the last four years has been "buried." we agree. >> let's bring in the news nation political panel, associate editor and columnist for the "washington post" and msnbc analyst eugene robinson, abby stoddard, columnist for the hill, michael spir mitt romney is con nish, talk show host and chip saltzman, strategist. i would like to start off with you, i

state of paul ryan, who is also on the republican ticket. the gamble that the republicans made was that he would give them a bump here in the upper midwest, and that has not happened. it's not because paul ryan fails to connect with people or people don't know who mitt romney is. i think we are witnessing a full-scale swing in the pendulum. here in wisconsin scott walker survived the recall effort, but you have tammy baldwin pulling ahead of tommy thompson, a double-digit swing from where he was. she used to be trailing after the democratic convention. president obama is pulling ahead in the upper midwest. i think this may be less about -- this is only mitt romney, and mitt has to be mitt and it's all about mitt. this runs deeper than that. this is a sort of recentering of the american electorate we're witnessing. >> let's go back to the political article. it isn't the chair or the ho-hum convention or the looked video or stewart stevens or the improving economy or media bias or the message or mormonism. it's mitt. is it that simple? is the problem at the end of the day that it

what congressman paul ryan did in the interview with fox news said, i don't have time to finish this out. good grief, people will get bored. i hear people say play up your natural weapons you have, and we know the president has his national weapons and so does mitt romney. what do you see as a high point or something effective for both of them. what are the president's natural weapons going in? >> foreign policy. if you said a couple years ago i'd sit here saying the democratic candidate's strong suit is foreign policy, that would take me by surprise. >> the first debate is domestic policy. >> you're absolutely right. i would stick with the jobs numbers and talk about how we're not where we want to be relatively to 100 thousand plus being gained per month but it's better than an 800,000 job loss. people need to be reminded of the numbers. >> and romney's weapons? >> romney's weapon is still that executive card. bain and all, he has to say i've gotten it done in business. i know the liabilities attached to the profile, tamron, but that's the bed he chose and he has to have a priv

in denver before heading to virginia for an event with congressman paul ryan later on this evening. zoo >> i know your passion for econo america and your desire to take our country back. for that to happen you guys have to cheer here and knock on doors and get people who voted for president obama to see the light sxwro and join our team. >> joining us now is steve boykin and anne cornbluth and steve deyes. the president out at that rally seemed more enthusiastic. he said that was not the real mitt romney who showed up at the debate last night. so the question to you, was it the real president obama who showed up last night? >> great question, because the president obama at that rally is not what i saw on the debate stage last night. one lingering question in my mind and i even tweeted it in real time. did he know he was on a split screen the entire evening? because style matters, tamron, and the substance -- you know the fact finders are already having a field day on. stylistically he lost the debate. he looked dmismissive and troubled to be there. the president did not respond in kind the w

to note that paul ryan has never been on this stage before. joe biden, given he's run for president twice, including the 2008 series, has a lot of debate experience. so it's going to be interesting, and the democrats need a little bit of a boost after what happened on wednesday. >> i hope congressman ryan comes out and says, can i call you joe? for old time's sake to start it off on a humorous note. have a great weekend. >> you, too. >> we're talking about governor romney trying to turn around a rough few weeks. he had a lot of success in the debate. president obama trying to restart after the debates perhaps capitalizing on the half-good jobs report. up next, i'll talk to the editor of politogeek.com. there's a lot going on today, and here's some things we thought you should know. a new film about the death of osama bin laden will debut on the national geographic channel. only two days before the presidential election. the movie is produced by two obama fund raisers, s.e.a.l. team 6 the raid on osama bin laden airs sunday, november 4th. darryl hannah was arrested in texas last night whil
